All Wales’ Schools have Lockdown procedures

All schools in Wales have emergency Lockdown procedures based on national guidance, the Welsh Government has confirmed.

A recent Lockodown was sparked at Rhondda Cynon Taf after threats were made to staff at the school.

”Schools are responsible for their own security and draw up plans based on guidance from the Home Office, police, Wales Extremism and Counter Terrorism Unit and the National Counter Terrorism Security Office, among others”.

Parents have described how their terrified children phoned them when Ysgol Nantygwyn in Tonypandy went into Lockdown after a threat was received from a ”Pupil to come on site and hurt teachers”.
